A little bit about me…
My name is Tamara Hamdan and I’m here to create.
Creativity has no limits. Since childhood, I’ve had the urge to draw, paint, and create objects. I could stay in my room for hours trying a new painting technique, a mixed media collage with whatever I could find or mess around with clay or jewellery making. Growing up in Ukraine, as a child I’d get in trouble for drawing on the walls and practically any surface I could find at home. One day my mother found me sitting in a corner with all my legs and arms covered in pen scribbles. This need to create stayed with me over the years, and continues to guide me in my creative practice.
My style is flowing paint that takes on a life of its own. Some of my friends tell me my paintings spark joy with their vibrant colours. Others say they summon memories of a day on a beautiful beach, a moment just before sunset, or a place they've been dreaming of.
The journey…
Spending most of my life in Dubai, a real melting pot of cultures, flavors and opinions, has definitely shaped my worldview and given me incredible opportunities. After 30 years in the city, I packed my bags to start a new life in Switzerland. Art remained my constant companion. Today, it continues to provide a tranquil place for me to escape to. In art we find comfort, beauty and hope. That's part of its magic, which I would love to share with you through my paintings.
Most of my art pieces are vibrant, depicting dreamy abstract seascapes, landscapes and florals, transporting you instantly somewhere magical and comforting. In a turbulent and uncertain world, I feel we ought to surround ourselves with colour and images that summon joy and tickle the imagination. I hope you enjoy them and find a piece that resonates with you.
